How can I tell if I need a pencil-style coil or a remote coil pack?
Look at the top of your valve cover. If you see electrical connectors going directly into the ignition coils sitting on top of the spark plugs, you have a coil-on-plug system (using part 27301-23700). If you see a thick block with spark plug wires running to the plugs, you have a remote coil pack.
Why do these ignition coils fail on high-mileage G4GC engines?
Over time, constant exposure to extreme engine heat causes the internal insulation of the coil to break down, leading to weak spark energy, intermittent misfires, and reduced fuel economy.
